Definition and Terminology
Communion, often called the Lord’s Supper, is a practice in which believers partake of bread
and the fruit of the vine (commonly wine or grape juice) in remembrance of the sacrifice of
Jesus Christ. The term “Communion” emphasizes fellowship, both with God and with fellow
Christians, as believers collectively acknowledge the redemptive work of Christ on the cross.
